17TH Bay in the Keys

We took the kids out to fish a little in the bay, south of Islamorada. 2 chum bags and some ballyhoo. We went to one spot that kept the kids reeling. There were some decent grovers that we caught. At one point the trout came thru and I caught a few, one that I kept for the table. Then the cats came in. Everyone had a cat on a few times. Runners and leatherjacks were abundant. My son caught a small blacktip. That made his day. He wanted to eat him but I talked him into letting the fish go and grow bigger. It was a big day of catching for the kids and they learned alot out on the water that day. They learned that the anal fin of the leatherjacks can really hurt! They learned the reason that they call snappers snappers. They learned what is good to eat and what to toss back. They also learned some of the rules and regs. And we all had a great time and an awesome dinner.
