Re: big bass fishing
I don't like em either Joe specially the ones that dive around the pillons where we fish at the keys they clean house I was very tempted to snag one with a triple hook .they are our worse enemies ,they go down under like going to a supermarket lol ,Miguel don't brake any laws and he does it where people don't fish with rod and reel the short time I know him I tell you he is good people good heart too.gruntking wrote:yeah everyone knows how i feel about spearfishing

Thanks a lot Miguel ! Thanks for all the tips !!! Found a good spot and a way to catch them ... Already caught (and released) 5 of those ... The biggest trick was spending hours looking for their hiding spot (it changes every day) ... After that, whatever plastic lure I used they would bite immediately!miguel456 wrote:Very nice butterfly peacock bass!
I kind of gave up on the live bait .. They would die on me all the time And once I found their hiding spot, they would bite the plastic 3 inches grub without an issue ...
Again, thanks for the tips ...

From the hump on its head they are probably spawning or protecting fry, in your spots, so yes they will attack pretty much anything.... easier than hand-grenades in a barrell

Re: big bass fishing
i am hearing a lot of "talk" about catching 10 pound bass. I have been fishing the glades for quite a few years and have yet to catch a ten pound bass. I hate to rain on peoples parades but 10 pound bass in south florida are few and far between. You can fish a lifetime and never catch a ten pound bass. Even in the south florida tournament circuit they very rarely catch a ten pound bass and i mean rarely. There are some lakes in south central florida where you stand a better chance of getting a 10 pound bass. As to the pictures, I am skeptical, really big bass usually have big bellies.
