its an armored catfish. i hate them

they always seem to scare away all the fish

They are all over! I snag them from time to time just to pull a neat looking fish outta the water to get a better look at em.

I saw one near the edge of the water one day when I crouched down. I grabbed it by the tail and flung it on the bank behind me and took it home to show the wifey. Man did that thing stink up the car. It smelled awful.

Not a brown Hoplo for sure. Looks like a pleco to me.
