Fish ID Help

Post by fisherdave »

Caught this fish last year from a Sunrise's canal. I think its an invasive fish and belongs to the cichlid family.

It's not a mayan cichlid. I have caught plenty of mayan cichlids before and this fish's color was very different. It also have two eyespots on its body, whereas the mayan cichlid have only one eyespot.

fish do change colors slightly to mimic there surroundings but it is a mayan cichlid !

think of it this way have you ever caught a red drum with more than one spot ? and with red fish some can be completely silver and some will be copper and silver just depends on where you catch them ...
