This just broke off the Petermann glacer in Greenland. The chunk is 4X the size of Manhattan island. This makes the 5th major cleaving of ice from either the poles or a northern glacer in the last ten years. By major they mean 100+ square Kilometers or more. Global warming? You decide.

I think the earth operates on longer cycles than any of us understand. There have been many "ice ages" and warmings. Who knows, maybe the calving of "big ice cubes" is part of the process to cool the oceans...
