Governor: Oil balls bobbing toward Pensacola by the thousands

Thousands of tar balls and tar mats are floating off Pensacola and skimmers have already begun to scoop up the weathered, coagulated oil, Governor Charlie Crist said during a hastily called press conference on Wednesday morning. Crist confirmed that a sheen of oil had been spotted Tuesday 9.9 miles offshore and shift in weather patterns will likely push the oil to beaches along the Panhandle within a week, "possibly days."

Over 257,000 feet of boom have been laid along sensitive coastline off Pensacola and the Governor has requested an additional 66,000 feet to be deployed along coastline in nearby counties.

The Governor said he has also written a letter to the U.S. Secretary of Commerce asking the Florida's commercial fishermen be eligible for the same emergency financial assistance available to fishermen in Louisiana and other Gulf coast states already hit with oil.

Still, fishing is good in Florida waters, according to Nick Wiley, executive director of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

"The best thing people can do is go fishing in Florida," Wiley said. "But we also want to take care of our fisherman at the same time."

As for Florida's marketing campaign that for several weeks has boasted oil free beaches, Crist said the campaign would be reviewed and revised if necessary.

"Obviously we need to have to have truth in advertising," Crist said. "We need to discuss where it is, more importantly where it is not."

Crist left for Pensacola immediately after the press conference.

The Judge asked the prostitute, "At what point did you realize you were raped?"
The prostitute replied (wiping away tears), "When the check bounced."

That's really a crass/suckish comment from Randy Scott :? I would certainly love an explanation from him explaining exactly what he meant
