Boynton Blackfin Bonanza
Dont know if it was because I tackle whore'd me a new jigging setup last week, because I ran into my buddy from the NMZ forum, Pottymouth on Fri AM while gettin it spooled up before work, or because my Buddy ChrisM called and said lets go, but it was high time to blow the dust off the yak and get some blood on it Saturday - and blood we got!
Pushed off from the S inlet at like 6:30. The idea was to paddle out and make a couple drops on some #'s we had in 80' - Then out to the ledges in 230 -250, then ride em up to the Skycliffe for some donkey wrasslin.....Fished W ChrisM, his brother in law, Tim who goes out w us from time to time and an old time Buddy, Manny who was paddling offshore for just his second time. Didnt take too long for the fist kingfish to hit the x rap trolled out back......barely a keeper and didnt want to waste time w a pic.....Hit in like 30 feet after clearing the inlet.
When we got to the 80' mark, we all started marking fish and the almaco's started to chew nicely on my 5 oz pink Williamson.....Though it was fun, its NOT what we were after.....so warmups over, all of us wiping the skunk off, out to 250 we go a paddlin.....headed SE so ideallt we'd start the 250 dropping in front of the martini glass.....
Here's where my memory gets fuzzy - ChrisM I think it was grabbed a really nice skippy, first then after that alll the trolling rods started to sing. At one point we were just casting x raps and getting BFT's on every other retrieve.....They were busting bait all around us - all we'd do is troll about till we found the bait pods
Manny and I kept 8 of the dozen or so we landed.....Chris and Tim ketps a few as well and Chris did managae one SLOB BFT - fish of the day....
After seeing the funnel cloud drop out of the sky a mile away and a wall of water with it in front of us, in the direction we were headed, we abandonded the Skycliffe idea and called it a day - Back on the sand by 10:30 lol, yep lol 10:30. Good thing too - My CFS Bag was so weighted down w great quality sushi, it was a herculean effort to paddle my scupper pro, which ususally outpaced all other yaks by alot! LOL... Heres some pics to enjoy

Please stop posting these reports you are going to make me buy a yak
Dreaming the dream that one day I can be as good as some of the boatless pros and catch some 12 inch mangrove snapper.

I can't decide if y'all are nuts or superheroes, but I know I won't be trying that! Just wondering though, how do you keep from tipping over out there??? Alot of expensive gear would be gone if you did right?
Awesome catch!

Re: Boynton Blackfin Bonanza
Thanks guys ! Its far more stable that you think.
Hardest part is launching and landing....some physics to understand in that. The big rollers out there are not an issue, when they show. Ive rolled a bunch, never out in the open, always on launch or landing....and yea cleaning the gear to the last screw and spring totally blows....lol However it is usually on days when I should have abandoneed the idea and was pushing it a bit.
Reports from up and down the coast had everyone who got out in the tuna
Get out if you can....All of em on topwater
