Post SFKFC Meeting

We had our second meeting last night at Kayak Jeff's and it was better than the first. We had 4 more people show up and had a good time talking about what yaks we paddle, where we like to fish, & why and how long we have been yak fishing.
I got to meeting Palm Beach Pete & his brother-inlaw Joe who told us some great stories about off shore fishing and had some great advice for keeping it safe out there.
And keeping it safe was our topic of the night, We spoke about what you need to have to be safe on the water and how to use some of those items when your alone.
I learned about 5 new safety tips alone, everything from paddle floats, to water activated lights you can wear on your vest for as little as $15.
Lou told us he has a friend of the fire dept. who can teach a safety rescue class for free at one of our next meetings and we all agreed it would be a good class.
We finished the meeting with Jeff (store owner) picking a good day for all of us to get out on the water & practice kayak re-entry and a little fishing too
I am working on getting another group together for the Palm Beach area in a few months. Pete told me the owner of another store in Palm Beach county is open to the idea.
