Re: NEWPORT PIER
My question is: How is the fish population recovered since the pier has been closed and no fishing has occurred? Does anyone have any stats on this? Any reports from FWC?

Re: NEWPORT PIER
There is really no structure on the bottom ..as you know newps wasnt a bottom fishing pier..Still solid bait around the area with large schools of snook, jacks, tarpon and cero's chasing the schools of bait..Dont think any of the local bottom fish are around due to the hammering of pilings..There has been alot of sharks as well cruising around

Re: NEWPORT PIER
Good point! Yeah, I know there is no bottom structure which makes things a little difficult but, I figured the population of whatever in the area enjoyed a good break due to the lack of fishing. Thanks for your post!

Re: NEWPORT PIER
I might sound old on this post but I am lol. I remember doing tight line acts across Newport to fish it. Lots of good memories. Hopefully it comes back strong.

Re: NEWPORT PIER
I just can't wait for this pier to reopen! I remember going to this pier very often as a child but had no idea about the rules and regulations, but times sure has changed. Check out the new rebuild... http://www.sibfl.net/parks_pier_photos.asp
