Cudas under 5 lbs are safe and are actually good eating.

Too many people on the forum who just read read read but not fish fish fish. Gaining fishing experience will make the knowledge you read even stronger. Without experience it's mostly mouth flapping in the air. 8)

Although this is an old thread.... don't eat cudas. I knew about the poison so I picked up a kit to test it. Went out and speared the smallest cuda I could find, since the small ones are less likely to have it. Tested positive, so we used him for rod and real the next day. Severe poisoning can lead to permanent nerve damage.

I don't eat cudas. Had an old Jamican tell me to cut the cuda you catch put them in the backyard and the ones that attract the flies don't eat?? You would think cut fish in the backyard would attract flies anyway???? I don't eat cudas. Why take the chance.

Don't eat Cuda to start. Why risk it with so many other good fish out their.

Here are some other myth methods I have heard. If the fight is weak don't eat it. Also after cooking it feed it to a cat if it doesn't eat it, don't eat it either. And I also heard of the fly thing.

Again why risk it? If you get it from a giant grouper or snapper that is fate, but stay away from the cudas.

Folk detection methods seem to agree with what is being said on here.
