George is a good friend of mine. I called him and told him what issues I had airing the show. He said he will edit the show and understand what I mean, but said he won't do it cause some ahole on Instagram was giving him poop about airing the show and the spot. I asked who and he said Joe. I said fishmanjoe, he said yeah that's him. When I told him I knew him he hung up the phone on me

Not even there but you gotta think this way IMO

You go to the keys and spend $30 on gas $30 on other stuff as tackle and food n such. You come home with a fish or 2 or 3 all in the maybe 3 pound range.

You go 15 times ergo $30 +$30 = $60 * 15 = $900. You spent 3 weeks with driving and hanging out on the bridge and have spent a grand.

You go to DT or PR and catch all that plus some and spend less.

Now the average fisherman pulls only a couple pounds of fish per keys trip if that or skunks --> there ya go

That money for a trip like that is a best bang for the buck kinda thing with awesome view good food and even a AC to cool your a$$ off.

Thats just me but a no brainer IMO and that if it even is $900 cuz it is LESS THAN THAT

I'm thinking this trip is on serious life support at the moment ...........but not because it's not worth the freight. Maybe trying to find 18 guys with a grand to blow on fishing at the same time was just a tad aggressive?

Herb.......can't thank you enough for the effort. You presented us a great trip with (what seems to be) a great captain that definitely knows how to put quality fish in the box. All elements of the trip top of the line. Bottom line.........a three day adventure on a private charter, with a bunch of great guys doing what we all love to do nonstop with food and lodging included for less than a G note??????? Not in this life.

agree 100%

I know an 77 year old gentleman in my church. He goes to DT once a month. He showed me the pictures of fish...( big muttons, groupers, and blackfins)
Yes, it is worthy more than 20 times of bridge fishing for amateur like me... He doesn't use electric reel. He got two-speed accurate.

While we all waiting for Cudaman to tell us his well-negotiated price detail,
this gentleman told me around $370 for boat, $200 for baits...(he may get special or senior rate I don't know)

So if we can catch goggle eye in advance, we could save some bucks.

How much does goggle eye cost?

You gotta look at it like this, if you charter a boat for dolphin and black fin tuna in the keys that's roughly $1k for a max of 6 people for 8 hrs. Even if it is $1k for the DT or PR trip you are getting a better deal as its 72 hrs and you are catching quality fish, I only seen 1 trip that Yankee Capts did that was not an omg trip, even then I believe he gave the guys a credit or discount on their next trip. Stand up guy to do that for them. Besides that they are always on the fish and quality fish at that. Everyone just needs to save that tax return lol

I can't speak for everyone but I'm ready to pay for the trip right now. And for the record I am nowhere near "balling", just a normal guy who loves to go fishing.

I think the trip is about $700 + tip but I could be wrong

Correct. :reeling:

I was wondering how many goggle eyes are worthy of $200... So I know how many I have to catch...
I met a guy in anglin pier, who may catch goggle eyes for my cooler.
And I have a @hit load of ice fishing bugs. I just don't know what color to use... Any recommendation on color?

How do you freeze goggle eye? Put a Kosher salt and freeze them?
When do we have to catch and freeze them... Not sure if 6 months old frozen goggle eyes will work...

If that's not the exact number it's certainly in the correct neighborhood. YC web site lists this trip at $650+tax+tip+food. NOTE: Probably a good idea to set aside another $500 to buy a little gift for the "ball and chain" to keep her smiling when we are gone. It's all about the balance at home.

Do goggle eyes really make that big of a difference? I can understand for live bait (80 a dozen at the bait boat), but are they really worth all that effort? You either gotta hope they are at the pier, or get on the boat and head out at night, and hope you find them lol. It just seems like it's much easier to load up on ballyhoo, speedos, blue runners, bonita for fresh bait. Especially during the summer months.

Sometimes they do matter, sometimes they don't, from my experience. My personal opinion is that proper presentation is far more important then the bait. I usually bring a couple dozen fresh gogs, as if the mutton bite is very slow they will usually get hit when nothing else will, but for the most part I will fish any FRESH bait. Our last trip with Yuri, I caught most of my muttons on butterflied pinfish, and only a couple on gogs. It doesn't matter what bait you are fishing with if you have it hooked so it is spinning, or are bouncing lead off the bottom.

I've seen Yuri come out of the cabin while we were all fishing with fresh gogs, hook up a nasty old freezerburned thread herring that was probably 10 years old, drop it down, bring up a 15 lb mutton, and go back into the cabin, without saying a word
