Kelley Fishing Night Report July 26

Post by ricky9 »

Went out last night on the mucho k. I originally was onboard the hurricane but they said after the mucho k got packed to move over to the other boat  as it was a single boat night. Conveniently I realized this was preferred seating in the back for the good ol' boys as they said to me to hit the rail while over hearing the fellow behind me to nicely place his rods in the back, even though the back was pretty much full already.

First drop produced some nice tails, just tails as nothing else seemed to be biting, current was going north, so was the chum, so was the bite. I dropped down some plugs, drifted some jigs out when I could, nada. Second drop was shallower and produced the same with a slower current going north. The backwas packed with crew members/ close friends just fishing away. I thought it was pathetic considering most of these guys do it every other night. why don't you get the guys that don't know too much of fishing on some fish? One dude next to me asked a crew member what's best for snapper, guy responds "just toss out anything when they see it they'll take it" I shared some fresh cut bait with him. Last time I go out on this boat, I've had some good experience's before but this is a business, not my buddy's boat and I help on the side.

Anyways I know the sea legs gets praise here. Is that my best option from now on?

Just my opinion i have fished a few of the local drift boats and most are tourist traps not to say all are. There are good boats out there with great captains and mates. But i prefer to spend my Hard earned money on The Sea legs ! Spend some time on one boat get to know people and learn a thing or two and you will catch fish almost anywhere on any given boat.

thats really the only boat i fish out of ft lauderdale.. but then again im a lil biased.. i have fished both reward and kelly fleets and CMD all the way north as far as lantana on party boats.. the two main boats that stand out from here to keys are sea legs and gulfstream... anything else i dont hold them to the same standard and tell myself im just enjoying my time on the water lol

You can come on my boat for a private charter, it's at the sealegs dock and you can fish the stern the whole night and not have to worry about anyone else

This actually sounds like something I would be up for if anyone wants to get together and split the costs.

Send me a pm if anyone is up for it :toast:
