jupiter boats
which boat do you prefer SAMANA OR BLACK DOG out of jupiter inlet. do they drift or anchor. what kind of rod and reel size hooks and weights thanks

You can't go wrong with either boat. They both generally anchor. Do a search on Black Dog on here . The questions on rod and reels etc has been answered a few times
Dreaming the dream that one day I can be as good as some of the boatless pros and catch some 12 inch mangrove snapper.

I agree!
I fished with both. Samana has 2 boats, I met the owner and he is a good guy and the captains are great.
Black Dog, however would be my 1st choice.
These boats drifted when I fished on them.

Both these boats are drift boats most days of the year.
I have always fished a Penn 3/0 with loaded with as much 25 lb test as I can spool up. 1/2oz. to 1.5oz. will get you down on most days.
Spool as you drift to lay it on the bottom for snapper, ...or lock over after dumping half a spool or so and hang on for a Kingfish bite.
