Either the braid was super old or you didn't tie a good knot. I never double the braid before I tie an Albright to my leader and that knot has NEVER failed on me. Just sayin

I never had a braid to mono or fluro knot part, and always use uni to uni at the backing mono and the fluro or mono leader.

Most times however I do double the line at the leader end with about a 6' Bimini Twist.

I think you are right ,braid was old but the knot was done right with the same reel I caught a nice mutton with Joe,so yes either line or braid was old ,btw I put new mono to all the reels I will be using .

Well the bimini its like a shock so impact its not too violent ,im too slow to do bimini's in da heat of the moment

Like krash said uni to uni. It has not failed me. I do 12 turns on the braid side.

I have also found make more turns on the braid improves the knot. I also double the braid and it is still much smaller in diameter to the mono.
Not on my bridge permit rods. I lose enough fishing straight mono.
Now on Mac rod I say yell yes

Bimini just doubles the line same as a spider hitch. Since braid doesn't stretch it'll do nothing for shock absorption. It just makes a loop.

you also have to remember that with braid you cant go all Kevin Van Dam on the hook set or it will snap !

My buddy refuses to use circle hooks cause he always sets the hook like that and with braid you'll miss the fish every time.
