Daiichi hooks are awesome hooks. They are the only company I know who makes a wide gap circle hook. But they are expensive and should only use them if you are planning to fish a tournament or big offshore trip.

I buy all my circle hooks from Marcus @ Tamer Products. The circle hook works great and has the perfect size gap for live bait. Of course you will have to match the size of hook to the bait. Can not beat his price and customer service. He also sell different variety of hooks and terminal hardware. His link is on my signature.

I like using circle hooks for lure fishing with a soft plastic ( like gambler's flapping shad), but I find that if you use them for bottom fishing sometimes you can gut hook undersized fish.... not good :(

I guess there are now illegal, but I prefer long shank hooks when targeting snappers, because they seem to take big bites

I do not know the exact rules yet but read that the gulf area everyone must start using circle hooks.
