I like 20 or 25, if you use less pound test remember to only use two hooks, its a real pain and a mess reeling in more than one fish on light line.

This is if your fishing Sand fleas on a multiple hook rig.

I know everyone will say it's crazy, but I use 6 to 8 for a pompano jig and that is because I like to feel the jig and everything it is doing.
RooferDave will testify to that fact that I use such a light line he thinks I am sick. I do get most of my fish but do have to rerig on a regular basis too.

Drawback - I sometimes lose my biggest Pompano because of line test so if I know there are large pompano I will use upto 12 but still prefer the fight and feeling when I get the fish in on 6 or 8.

I fish for Pompano and Spanish Mackerel like people who fish Snook they are the fish I like to fight on light rods, it's a kick and a thrill feeling the speed of a Mack or the power of a Pompano. They are not the biggest fish just a fun fish for me to fish for.

10 pound test would surfice for most jig fishing, Juno Pier is a little trickier because of the hieght of the pier.

Yeah going with 6lb line after pomps would be a challenge thats for sure. I can't imagine having a 6 pound pomp on a light spinner with 6 or 8# line. That would take some patience!!

reminds me of a bad story, I was at Panama and I was standing in water about up to my chest casting a Yo Zuri crystal minnow and was throwing just on the shore side of the sand bar with a 7' Gloomis rod and a shimano baitcaster, well I saw a couple big Jacks go through and as they went out I let out a little bit to much line before my cast and really laid the power to my cast, and well it was a disaster!! My bait was sitting in the water when i came through and it was the biggest backlash I'd ever seen to this day, I put it in it's pouch and I havent touched it since haha, still have the backlash. Oh well I'll get it some day
