Try soaking the spool in some warm water.

That is what you call line memory. It sucks arse. What reel did you spool the line to? Spin or Conventional? I have heard people dip mono spool into warm water. I usually just buy fishing line that has less line memory.

Conven. reel. I soaked it in some warm tap water and nadda. Do you think I should just make the water hotter? Maybe boil some on the stove? LOL

Do not put the line in hot water. If it is conventional reel do not worry about it. When you spool the line you should have spool it the same direction going on to the reel. Meaning holding the spool horizontal and feeding the line to the reel. It is different for a spinning reel. In time the line will relax and it will be fine. Remember, as you reach to the bottom of the fishing line spool the line will have great line memory compare when the spool was full.

Sometimes not. I recommend tying a heavy sinker and cast it out let it stretch a bit as you wind in the line quickly.

All of the above Morpheus and when you turn the reel make sure the drag doesn't start working and if you can depending on the reel flip the bail by hand . Turning the reel to flip the bail can cause line twist

Letting line out behind a boat really stretches the line and takes out twists. Like the others said it will lessen after u use it a couple times.
