i put it depending on the reel I'm using. My light bridge rod has about 75 yards of mono while my heavy has 15. For the boat mostly only 20 yards I thinks fine , on the bridge I throw more. Idk personal preference I suppose

When I fish bait, on my bottom rod I prefer to use 30lb mono, but when the currents are reaping I use a reel with 50lb braid and I use only 20 feet of 30lb mono topshot to get rid of the non stretch of the braid to the swivel. It prevents line breaks. It also gets the braid away form structure, if around wrecks I go to about 50 feet of mono.

50 to 60ft. I like to take account if sharks are around, eels, etc that I made have to cut or get cut off. I rather have extra line and just put tie the hook vs having to rerig or grabbing another rod

I don't see where it made much difference on my last party boat trip. But I can see how a Boatless fisherman might over do it and take care of any tackle adjustments as the day goes on.

I use just enough to wrap around the spool once or twice. Maybe 15 feet or so.

Cause it made no difference when i used 15ft or less. I tried all combo and this is what i like and still feel the bite. I probably use less then that but gave reason as to why. If i can use a 6/0- 7/0 hook and feel the yellow tail biting and bring them up...Guess it's working? Nah, no 2nd guessing here its working for me.

PR trips- 300-500ft great to use braid there as well but you wouldnt know. Easy to change a top shot when you have braid backing...and it goes on and on.

I think we only know the bite we felt but don't know the bite we we didn't feel... I got biggest tail on very weakest bite and then realized my top shot was too long (about 80ft) and ended up cutting out 60ft and started to feel everything...ended up catching too many squirrelfish...lol
