Fresh water I have to nominate the Northern Pike

In the serf, the hardest fighter was a large jack crevalle on an 8 weight fly rod

But the hardest pull I have ever felt was a seven foot Lemon Shark hooked in a boat just off Tiger Key in the 10,000 islands.

Gotta go with the jack crevalle in saltwater, no doubt, also due to special memories with big crevalles when I was a kid it will always be my favorite fish to catch!! In freshwater, easily the peacock bass!!! They are absolute brutes and its not unusual for me anymore to fight a 3+lber for over 3 minutes, my biggest peacock so far, a 6lb monster took me nearly 10 minutes to land, was an epic fight on my fly rod, shows how powerful they really are, they can outfight a large carp!!
There's no such thing as too much bait!!

Hands down, and if you have caught one you will agree with me... A swordfish on the larger side, especially when they are older and smart. Get ready for a grueling duel! One of the biggest hearts per weight in the animal kingdom! That being said, inshore, there is nothing like a snook with some shoulders who WANTS to get away, I have had them school me on 50lbs straight mono at a flood gate!

Disagree here..every jewfish I've caught has popped up relatively easily compared to their size. One or 2 attempts to dig and then they kind of fight like a nurse shark.

Thanx Bud,
Ya know I luv that sound when the line is holding really tight in the wind, sounds like violin, good times...

It's a good feeling knowing the knots and knicks are holding...

Rays are very "brutal" too; on Long Island south shore beaches they dig in...

Cellfish.
