Fish ID please

Post by Boruchlen »

Hi all,

I'm posting a photo for my uncle, who just caught this fish. Can anyone ID it for me quickly?

Thanks so much,

Bermuda chub. Not good for anything except crapping all over anything in a 10 foot radius of their butthole.

:uplol: Joe, you're a man after my own heart! Those chubs are right up there, like those long jaw mud snappers and oily mouth gill scrod.
Those other fish must be smart. We caught all the stupid ones!

He joking or smoking something. Chubs are the worst tasting fish in Fla IMO, and I'm not a picky fish eater, since i have eaten just about anything that swims in S; Fla and a few things that don't swim.

I cooked them the same way i cooked Cuda, hound fish, ladyfish, Gafftopsail catfish, puffers, mullet, flying fish lol. The only fish i would rate at the same level as a Bermuda chub is a sea cat. Many years ago before the advent of the internet i was into survival and working on a book on S. Fla fish and invertebrates, so i tried all sorts of critters and plants. I never published, but still have many books and notes on the subject.

Actually all those fish i mentioned above are good to eat. I left out Angelfish since they are not legal to harvest nowadays. BTW many people on the other side of the world scrape the meat off the bones of tarpon and make fish balls out of them. They are considered as good as fish balls made from ladyfish in places like the Philippines.
