I'd love to go and see what this jigging stuff is all about, unfortunately the only Sunday I have off is 31 May.

Bait was working better than the jigs on Saturday, but the Iron man trip we did you guys were killing it on the jigs. Gotta start conditioning for the PR trip

Small print..."phil is not responsible for loss of interest in bait fishing, loss of interest in fishing from land, financial complications that may result, compulsions to jig, or any unforseen consequences that may result from your new found interest in jigging"

It does get expensive lol

What to bring-
Jig setup
Numerous jigs to try. Usually 150g-200g work
80# fluro trust me your gonna need it
I also suggest bringing extra braid. I have seen 3 people get spooled where we are going.
Extra assist hooks off kings are biting you may keep your jig but lose your hooks

Braid on your reel I suggest 65# or higher.

If you have a fighting belt bring it. Ever wonder your breaking point? If you hook a big AJ you will lol

Not that I'm coming but since I'm going out on friday What's your take on flouro vs mono leader some sites say mono is better if the fish is gonna run back down a few times but you have the experience so I'd rather hear from you lol

What reel & rod were they using? And what lb's of braid?

Jig styles ( why lighter jigs feel heavier than big jigs)

That's a first for me. Light jigs feel light & heavy jigs feel...well heavy.

I'm just curious also on the 50lb braid breaking. What brand of braid ? What reel & drag setting? Jerky drag or silky?

I had a guy with us that had a 350g jig. I thought I was done lol but the way it's cut plays a big part.

The shimano whirligig 135 feels like it's heavier for its size. most full flat sized jigs are the heaviest. There is no aerodynamics in them to cut threw the water

Drags were pretty smooth

Vic has a sargosa
The other 2 okumas

They all had 65# braid not sure the brand

Flouro is more abrasion resistant which is helpful around structure. The people who do say to use mono for a Lil elasticity to absorb pulling shock but most people I have met in my few months of jigging use flouro if they have it but I hqve also caught on 60lb mono

I'll prob get some of both then.
And I have to agree the flat sided jigs feel heaviest but it is hard to tell difference between the cut ones depending on how they are balanced
