There’s a new fishing float in town that can do things that will really surprise you and are a blessing for many a shore fishermen.

The BulletBobber combines the functions of a planer board and fishing float and on top of being able to cast it you have on-demand control of the direction it will plane. All you need to do is give it a little tug and it flips direction! The patent title is “Planing Floats with Lateral Direction Control” but that is just lawyer talk for saying you can make it zigzag. Its best feature comes out when you are fishing any spot that has some current because you never need to recast or at least not until you catch a fish. The current will push it away from or toward the bank you’re on. You can often fish anywhere you want down stream by using the current to power them and its direction control. They are made by a company called BulletBobber Enterprises. Even on a lake or pond with no current you can steer your bait to the left or right by reeling and change direction by flicking your wrist to make it back flip and head the other way. They can travel up to five inches for each inch you reel in. Fishing floats aren’t just for live bait anymore! These things can add action to your lures and keep them in the strike zone longer. It should not be long before they help a Pro or amateur win a tournament by giving him the edge needed to win. If nothing else they are a riot to use and make you feel like a kid flying a kite for the first time.

Here is a link to what I believe is the most functional fishing float ever made www.bulletbobber.com. The website has some videos and prices start at $2.50 for the small 2” size. They are fairly new but coming on strong and may take over the fishing float industry being as functional, reasonably priced and having already proven themselves for almost every shallow water species.
