One reason we visit this forum is our individual passion for fishing. No doubt about it, Fishing is probably the second best thing in life, although for some, it's ranking is still open to de bait. Ooops, debate.
Personally, I love to fish from the beaches. But like all fishing excursions, there are a few "little extras" that can help increase the pleasure and enjoyment I receive from my outings.
Here is a way for you to enhance your next beach fishing outing and make it more enjoyable for you.
There are no "ands", "if's", or "butts" about what I just said.
OK, perhaps a few butts, that's really up to you.
Let's begin:
First, I always try to rig my rod or rods before leaving home. It's just easier and may help keep the sand and grit out of your equipment.
A sand spike rod holder is nice to have. Your equipment stays out of the sand, and you have both hands free for rigging or if you need them for something. Just get some PVC pipe at a hardware store, cut it to the right length, and put a slanted cut on the bottom for easy insertion into the sand. Cost should be minimal for the "Do it yourselfer", or buy a sand spike rod holder at your favorite store.
Binoculars: They are great to have with you. Do not overlook or forget them. How often have you seen something that you'd like to get a better look at?
Try to keep your tackle and equipment to a minimum. A fanny pack for tackle is nice.
And finally, and possibly the most important part (for some) of making you next beach fishing excursion more enjoyable......
Arrive very early. Preferably well before sunrise. Bring some signs like these (what else are you using your computer printer for?), and post them liberally at the edge of the beach where people will be entering.
Now, ain't you happy you remembered to bring binoculars?
