Anyone ever made a ribbon rig? The one with the netting is illegal but I asked the DNR guy @ the pier and he said the metal rings are ok. Picked up some wire and ribbon last night. Any tips? Sabiki's have been hit and miss for me. I've been trying a size 6 sabiki, picked up a 4 and will give that a shot this evening.

I have used rings before and they work.
You need bear wire about a 20 lb test, wire crimps, 2 swivels, and red ribbon.
Make a ring about 1 1/2 inch. in dia. then make the others the same all connected together (your making a chain) make it as long as you want.
Mine was 12 to 14 inchs.
Put a swivel on the first and last ring one for your iine and one for a weight about 1 oz.
Tie the ribbon top to bottom.
I don't know why they work but they do good luck.

Just tie the ribbon on one knot on top and one knot on the bottom so the ribbon is stretched between the top and bottom BUT not tight it has to be a little loose.
I know it works on the sardines.(cigar minnows)

if you know how to make a chicken rig you can cut the loop at the begining of loop so its a long branch line and then a gold hook you catch them fine without the ribbon. just my .02cents
