That saying is so overrated, I have eaten bait squid and it was no different from restaurant calamari and true Floridian fisherman have once tried a mullet sandwich and discovered the deliciousness, I mean it is classified as a fish by science and bait by fisherman. But obviously not all bait is edible.

Lol who cares, not like any of us could make a dent in the grunt population if we kept 20 each for the next 5 years,, and hell there are worse offenders for grunt rapings like party boats especially

Well, I certainly don't get it. I'm a pure carnivore but I do go out of my way to enjoy certain seafood. But not bait. I would eat bait if I had to but so far I haven't had to. I can't swallow venison either. And NEVER put anything in your mouth recommended by Rare. He will send you a PM three weeks later saying that he was only kidding and your balls will probably fall off if you ate what he suggested.

I'll eat the hell out of some smoked mullet, if they are clean ocean-run silver mullet. Not the nasty striped mullet that you get in the back creeks and intercoastal. There is a huge difference in taste IMO.

Give me a couple smoked mullet, a bottle of Krystal hot sauce, some club crackers and a 6 pack of ice cold beer, and I'm a happy man.
