If you could predict the shrimp movement you'd be a better person than most of us shrimpers.

It generally around a full or new moon in the cooler months of the year in the SE areas of Florida.

When the shrimp run does go down what's the preferred presenting for snook and tarpon? Just enough weight to get em down, free line, float?

all depends bro shrimp run on all depths of the water colum... ive caught snook and tarpon on trollright and shrimp dragging it on the bottom and ive also caught then throwing a shrimp up current freelined and letting him float back... if you can get a chance to fish government cut during the shrimp run fish a trollright and a shrimp throw it as far as you can let it sink a little and reel it slow and you will crush the tarpon...

I've read that the cut is one of the best spots to fish during the run, and you just confirmed exactly what I was planning on doing. Thanks for that. It would be nice if they'd reopen the little pier on the north jetty, but on the other hand it might just draw unwanted crowds. Either way I'm there.

One of the reasons why it's closed!!
True. I'm sure the city didn't appreciate all the trash people left behind either. That spot was pretty quiet during the mullet run and I was thankful for that.
