As part of our annual Memorial Day services, American Legion Post 304, Dania Beach, Fl. has received permission this year from the City of Dania Beach to conduct a memorial service on Dania Pier.

The memorial service will be held at approximately 9:45am on Monday, May 31, 2010. Our Post Color Guard, Firing Squad, and several members of Post 304 will march from the pier entrance to the "T" where a brief (10 minute) ceremony will be held. The memorial service will include a gun salute and the playing of Taps. In addition, a wreath will be cast off the pier to honor our Sailors and Marines lost at sea.

We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause fisherman but at the same time we ask for your kind cooperation and respect. As always, the general public and everyone present on the pier are cordially invited to join us in honoring those who've made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our great nation.

BF, glad to hear your going to stop by for the service. Would like to meet you. Same goes for anyone else here who decides to attend. I'll be the guy with the sword, captaining the Color Guard and Firing Squad.

We've held the same service every Memorial Day on the beach, just south of the pier, for years. We usually have one of the lifeguards carry the wreath out to the reef via kayak. We're pretty excited about being able to use the pier this year to cast the wreath directly into the ocean.

So I will be making this service, I hope to see others out there.

They did something like that at the juno pier a week ago but I think it was for the surfers and trust me they did get in the way for a while when there were alot of fish busting at the top of the water. So I would say to just be patient and not be rude especially for the marines and soldiers lost at sea. I would come but I dont live near dania.

I'll be there! I can't think of anything more worth while than this.

Thanks to all those who attended the Memorial Day service on the pier. Hope you enjoyed our Color Guard and we weren't too much of an inconvenience. We're looking into doing it again next year.
