Germany - Stralsund and Neuhof Marina

Post by STRIZ »

Well had a couple blast days with my Ruthy and a relative. We went to a bud of us who has a marina and a tackleshop / restaurant.
From there we did some tourist stuff and went to Stralsund next to other places.

Some pics

The first Gorch Fock. There were actually 5 of them with number 5 being the one as a trainig ship for German Navy. This one is the Gorch Fock 1 and is currently not ready to sail but will be soon

Those are some cool looking places, I know you wanted to be fishing there. That underwater ride looked fun to stay in. Is the air pumped in so you can stay down a long time?
I have used many a burn barrel but none had fish cut outs.

Very cool Ron.

I'll be in Deutchland next summer. We will be in southern Germany, flying into Stuttgart for a few days and then going to visit my family who lives on the German side of the Swiss border, on Lake Constance.

I lived on a farm in Germany for three years while stationed with the USAF when Germany was still divided East & West. Traveled all over Europe from Norway to southern Italy and Spain. Didn't do any fishing but managed some free diving at Spain's Costa Brava.

Nice photo's

Yeah guys it was sure a heavy weekend.

Just as green as the east sea lol.

That smoker is custom built. The burn barrel was a blast. We threw whole buckets of gas in it from 10' away. Lit up like a mofo.

R&R for sure.
Johnny yep it is airtight with 2 escape hatches and a constant air flow. Only runs up to about 5' waves or it smaks you in the head. Goes about 18' deep.

By the way the east sea is the world biggest brakish sea with only 0.8 % salinity but holds nice fish. Cod, Hering, Pike, Salmon, Eel not morray, and lots of other stuff and gets huge 2.

Learned that with the salinity on the Drive.

Early August we will be there again but for a couple more days.

Cant wait especially since I will be able to fish with a tourist lic of all things LMFAO

Hey, Ron! What great pics. Thanks for taking us on the tour. No fishing tales to report from me, other than harassing the tourists, as usual. Be well, my friend.
Those other fish must be smart. We caught all the stupid ones!

Thanks man

As long as you keep harassing the tourists and let them hang their hooks on helium ballons I know you are doing just fine.

I wish

I just managed to have those 3 days off. So darn busy that all private projects such as building a frigging rod are all back burner.

I will be up there again from August 12th and until then I will just somehow have to build 2 rods - one for me and one for another guy

Cant wait tho to get a line wet that is for sure

The Baltic sea ... ahhh :)

Still have a traumatic setback fishing the Island of Rugen for pike as I could not
get a single fish in four days.
Four days of fog and misery, the fog was so thick that I did not even notice the
darn bridge over the island ...

Did you hear about the fishery being basically nearly at an end by Rügen?

Was some documentary about all the plastic in the water and the runoff from pesticides and stuff. Northsee gonna take a hit and the Eastsee is so green because of that. To much plankton in the Eastsee.

Pikes galore in the bays tho

There was something fishy on Danish forums in spring when they posted pics of bonito which I thought was some kind of joke. Recently though I saw a video of Atlantic dolphins checking out kayakkers in the large belt further north. An issue is the run off from the pig farms in spring that can cause algea blooms. Fishing literally stinks then :-)
