It was a risk to visit that place in high summer due to low water and plenty of competition due to the summer holidays here.
The competition was indeed present in numbers but we could still avoid the
Crowds and fish in relative peace.
It was obvious to me that skill levels in Anglers greatly varied, some guys just
Could not fish which was good for the trout.
The weather resembled more fall than high summer and in the first couple of
Days we got some pretty hefty showers on our heads.
The temperatures where also pretty low at times but posed no problem when you trampled through A river the whole day.
Fishing was sometimes difficult was we visited spots that held virtually no fish.
I had the impression that the spots where access was difficult where not visited
By the guys who stocked the trout but merely by the cormorants who cleaned
Every fish out.
The spots with easy access did hold some decent trout and on one day I even
Saw the guys from the angling club stock fat brown trout in the river.
All in all it was a pretty successful trip.
A special thanks goes out for the local German Angler who left me the fat
Golden rainbow trout at the most trampled spot on the river.
The whole day legions of fly fishermen had tossed fly to a single fat golden trout
In the deep pool with no result.
When the last Angler left the spot he remarked to me that the golden trout
Was now mine.
I knew I had a slim chance to get the fish to take the fly but it would surely
Be fun on the 4-weight to catch that odd hatchery escapee.
I teased the fish so long with a streamer that after about 15 minutes the
Fish shot forward to nail the streamer.
I suspected the barbless hook would come out or the light tippet would break
But in the end all worked out and I could land that big fish.
And as usual, pictures say more than words....
