Theres not much to tell. It was just Dave and I on the beach so I had to throw the rod in the spike when Dave grabbed the leader and run down there with the tail rope. The video of it is pretty funny with me running down like a mad man in the harness. We had to get a tourist to take our pictures for us. Pretty much we have been catching nothing but Nurses and Tips on the beach then we got a bite that seemed like a nurse just messing the bait and then it just took off. It took 150 yards right off the bat but it was a 30 minute give and take after that, and there is nothing more nasty then the feeling of the leader as it passes over that dorsal when Hammers make that 180 turn.

REBEL saw that sandtiger and that is an incredible fish. That is the first one I have ever seen caught down here. Are they caught here often ?

off the radar we usually hear about one a year caught south of the cape canaveral area, but this one is especially odd b/c of its summertime capture, usually the ones we do hear of are from the winter times, so yeah this ones pretty special

Hey Guys,

What an Awesome Fish that Sand Tiger was.Zack fought it and we thought it might be a gummer a BIG ONE it fought like a Gummer on Steriods at Times ... We seen the tail no real dorsal yep Gummer ..I yelled no its not a Gummer.. Joshed Beached it ..She was a MASSIVE Lady Sand Tiger I guess about 400lbs man was she hard to handle I snapped the pics and jumped in for a quick shot Image
I could not believe we had actually caught a Sand Tiger here in Florida super rare for sure here is Zack pulling her to release. I must Say I myself have fished over the past 4 days with Josh n Zack as a 3 man team as Mikey and Mike have worked thier areas well . I can"t say more Me , Zack and Josh have alot of fun and and I can bury my head in the Sand and forget about everyday problems..Here is Zack getting her released Image I must say we they work hard we are a team.. N Josh landed a 9 ft Lemon( he has the pic on his Camera) before this 9 ft 5 inch 52 inch girth Lemon that afternoon the same day that I caught on my Tica 80 what a great fight and a nice Lemon Shark for sure !!Image I want to Thank everyone here this has been alot of fun and I enjoy Sharkin with my Friends .. Hi All,
Here is some interesting facts on Sand Tigers ..

Family: Mackerel Sharks
(Family Odontaspididae)
Fairly large and snaggled -toothed the Sand Tiger Shark is RARE in Florida but relitively common in the north. This shark tends to be rather Sluggish and not considered dangerous to people,UNLIKE other members of the Family , Great White's and  Mako Sharks. These sharks feed in groups of 3-4 hearding and preying upon schools of bait.
Female Sand Tiger sharks bear only 1 or 2 live young, but its not for the lack of trying. These two fetuses eat the additional eggs thier mother produces .( Dang yah yah did"nt think your kids got along ) Apparently ,thier diet agree with them. At birth these sharks measure a little more than 3 feet long !! :cyclopsani:

My favorite pic of Miss Sand Tiger Image

Good Luck to everyone in the tourney!!

Its good to finally see some nice fish finally being caught, its been slow fishing so far for the tournement, while we have the time to put up a report figured we would post some pictures of the slow times passing by.

we have thank capt.Bruce for all his support and help throughout the tournement, we have been fishing non-stop since the first day only spending a few nights resting at home. Once again thanks Capt.Bruce your a great help, and thanks for bringing all the luck with you and we are happy to have you fishing with us.

I want to clarify a couple of rules I can't find, but we all have common sense and we all sign waivers for a reason.

From this moment on I do not want to see sharks on rocks, PERIOD.

Also you may let anyone take pictures or do video, but only TEAM MEMBERS or other TEAM PARTICIPANTS may touch the rod or SHARK

This is 2009 first amendment to the Shorebound Shark Tourney Rules

Amendment 001
Only Team Members and Participating members may touch the rod or Sharks that are caught.

These rules are not final, and are subject to change as unanimously approved by the SHOREBOUND FISHING GROUP, LLC. SHOREBOUND FISHING GROUP, LLC reserves the right to stop the tourney at anytime if it sees fit. SHOREBOUND FISHING GROUP, LLC reserves the right to refuse entry to anyone. Any announcement made by the SHOREBOUND FISHING GROUP, LLC at the start of tourney takes precedence over these written rules. By participating in this event, each person agrees that all decisions made by the SHOREBOUND FISHING GROUP, LLC are final and not subject to legal challenge.

Lol, do we get any bonus for scoring points in the shark tourney with a 20lbs spinner and a 2" pilchard on a 1/0 circle hook?
Bridge catches do not get bonus points because it is not the glamor part of the tourney. :D
