Yup, I agree..... usually a few gentle tugs on the rod tip, then when u tighten up on them they run!

I had the exact same situation with my biggest permit, 32#, in my avatar... my theory is he was hooked on bottom of 3 hooks, but the top hook grabbed him just above the fork of the tail as he ran straight away from me, and the "flex" of the fish pulled it from his mouth.... near the end I realized I was pulling him in backwards... ended up getting him on the beach with his tail hooked with only about 1/2" of *skin* just above his tail! WOOHOO! My favorite fish to catch! :-)

or run a 4.30s 40yard dash when you turn around and see your rod tip almost touching the ground... :dude:

Fished Boynton Inlet, current was ripping and people were not using enough weight to hold bottom... anyways no one caught anything but there were a lot of bait stealers there if you could get your bait down, I did catch a lane snapper who got hooked in the process. I am searching for moonfish, any advice on them would be greatly appreciated.
