I'll post the next time they have an event there, if any of you guys can make it to help. The guy who works at the VA hospital and plans the recreational trips is going to let me know, he said that they are going to do them about every 3 months or so. He said the Vets haven't stopped talking about it, and that there are some seriously exaggerated fishing stories making their rounds around the wing at the VA, LOL. Apparently one of the guys hadn't left his room in months, but when he heard there was a fishing trip planned, he jumped at the opportunity.

It was seriously the most rewarding few hours I've spent in a long time.

I have been hearing a lot about this pier lately and was kicking around the idea of making a trip up this Saturday. Is the pier usually mobbed this time of year on the weekends?

Just go. IMO Juno is a top tier set of planks in south Florida. At least, I've never fished anything better. Note: down here it's good if it's mobbed. Post your report good, bad or push.

Good point about when its mobbed. If Im able to take care of some things before the weekend I think Im going to make the run.

I've been meaning to post a report for a couple weeks but after waking up at 4am to drive up to Juno by the time I get home, I'm always too tired to do anything. Here is a summery of the last few weeks.

Bait is there every morning at sunrise. There is a mixture of large and small sardines, thredfins, and dork jacks if you like to count those. As the day goes, the bait pushes away from the pier making catching bait almost impossible so you have to have a down bucket or something to keep your bait alive as you fish.

Sandperch and croaker are in the surf and lately only want to bite live small shrimp.

Bonita are caught every day as long as you have a bait out.

Kingfish are being caught but with no regularity

Permit and cobia are non existent

Snook are a given every day. Small free lined bait get constant action from small snook. Big snook want big baits freelined early in the day and fished on bottom in the afternoon.

Overcast days make snook fishing tough since they hang out away from the pier scattered everywhere and bright sunny days bring the snook under the pier looking for shade and easier to target.

Fished Juno today for the first time 6:30-11.

Wow, I knew people said there were a lot of snook, but I didn't realize exactly how much there are. I mean for real there are ALOT of snook at this pier.

Caught 4 decent sized ones between me and my friend, lost a lot more. Bite was great at sunrise and steadily got slower as the day went on except for a couple times snook would feed for a couple minutes or so. Live freelined pilchards were the bait of choice. More or less everyone I saw caught a snook this morning. Bait was thick all over the pier.

Learned why snook and braid don't mix, lost some overslots to abrasion on the pilings. My friend used 15 lb mono (with 40 lb leader) and landed the majority of the ones he hooked. I guess now I see the whole braid v.s. mono argument differently. Definitely will be back for revenge.

Was it fairly easy to catch bait?

Fished this morning from sunrise to about 11. Pretty constant Snook bite today. I was 2/4 same as my brother. A couple Bonita caught as well. Fun morning. Big school of small sized pilchards at the pier today. We caught our Snook on xraps.

Fished 7-11 yesterday morning, water was insanely clear and calm and with a low tide more or less killed the snook bite. Most fish I saw landed were while it was still kind of dark and closer to the T. Snook didn't want it freelined, on bottom, or with a splitshot. Hooked one around 10 (must've been stupid) by the entrance but it broke me off. Plenty of cudas and pilchards around if you need bait. I saw mackerel in the water but didn't see any come up. Not a horrible day, but not a good day, I bet the fish turned on later in the day though.

This was the view all day.

Planning on a trip to Lake Worth Pier tomorrow morning.

It should be similar to Juno Pier I hope.

Stop around snook islands for mullet.

Get a dozen and head to the pier.

Gorgeous to look at. Not too fun to try and fish in. Maybe the bait will stay around for a while.

Netted some white bait under the pier close to 7 am. floated out some...nothing..

dropped some on my bottom rig and only caught a 12 mangrove snapper.

Some guy caught a cobia on a squid looking bucktail in orange.

I left by 11:30 cuz it was getting too hot.

didnt see any mullet close to the pier or around those
snook islands

I forgot.

I saw a few things to make you go ....

Why do some guys keep their damn click on while reeling in their line. Its soooo annoying. wow. i wish their damn click would break off.

I saw other guys reeling in with their drag slack as a mug barely able to actually reel in their line also making a whole heap ah noise.

IDK why these things annoy me so much. :auto:

Lol. I wonder if some guy on here is reading these posts thinking , "oh crap. That's me!"

Casting with a slack drag without opening the bail. Wow. At the same time wearing Columbia fishing shirt. Titanium pliers. Fully stocked browning tackle bag . All the gear in the world. Taking fishing serious. I'm like  :salut:
