Reeling and casting with the clicker is by far and and always the first sign a kook is in the area.

Fished Juno yesterday from like 5-8.

Not much action before the storm, some people caught ladyfish, one guy caught a snook, cudas here and there. During and after the storm a couple of tarpon were jumped, the pier really cleared out after the storm, only 3 or so of us out there. Water calmed down and the T was absolutely loaded with bait. Big threadfins, sardines, and pilchards were all over. Jacks came in and out busting bait and snook started popping around 7:55. Of course, the pier closed at 8. Thought I hooked a huge snook on bottom that went straight for the pilings, finessed it out after 10 minutes just to find out it was a jack. Almost threw my rod in the water.

Guy at the hut told me the snook action has been dying down since about last week (I could tell). Things are heating up in terms of whitebait. Mullet shouldn't be too far behind.

Oh and I forgot, someone caught another African Pompano yesterday. Not as big as the one I saw a pic of, but still a decent one.

nice fish... maybe mid or upper 30LB range or more???

Oh forgot the jig,
120000g jig adds 120Kg, whivh is about 240LB.

For the record, total weight is 270 LB + :jester:

It would be my dream coming true if I catch one monster like that on my 12ft rod with 3oz spoon... Maybe I will break the rod...too much high stick...lol

Any one else hear about what happened ? The surfers were stacked on the pier about 25 feet from it also going under it and the pier owner told fishermen to to reel in that side of the pier is closed. The fisherman had to time there cast between swells and any cast over 50 feet they were thrown out of the pier.

If I fished that pier often I'd bring huge rotten bait and chum the sharks up every day till surfers started getting bumped

The county owns the pier. Can't imagine Palm Beach county violating their own written rules.

From the palm beach county website

man and woman surfingSurfing

Unless otherwise posted, surfing is permitted outside the guarded swimming areas of County beach parks.

Surfing Safety Tips

Check with lifeguards first about where to surf.
Always wear a leash.
Never surf around swimmers or fishermen.
Always surf with a buddy.
Obey lifeguard instructions.
Be aware of and avoid all fishing lines.
Stay away from schools of bait fish.
Stay with your board if you get caught in a rip current.
Novice surfers should stay well clear of intermediate and advanced surfers and packs of surfers.
Surf away from a pier.
Don’t surf through a pier.
Be aware of color of the condition flag being flown from the lifeguard tower. At Juno Beach, surf in the guarded area only when the orange and white checkered surfing flag is flying.

Don't know who was claiming to be the Owner, but I do know he didn't own Jack!
Nice Boat! Now get it outa my driveway!

:stupid:
Exactly....that's like saying I can't fish a wreck cuz there's scuba divers down. :nilly: a fishing pier is designed for fishing, the suffers, swimmers, boaters, and us have to have mutual respect but not tot he point where we have to give up or enjoyment for theirs.

The county doesn't own Juno pier. It's owned by Loggerhead Marine Center (the turtle rescue place down the road). I have no doubt that long-term, they'd like to shut down fishing from the pier and turn it into sight-seeing only. The CEO of the center (and therefore the pier) is a big surfer...go figure.

They "manage" it from what I understand, where does it say they own it? Not that that would make much of a difference in the rules.

Yes the logger head people manage it and well the issue remains and that was that whether owning or managing he was literally standing behind anglers making sure they times cast between swells and no more than 50 feet. There's actually a video where you can hear him say it and threaten to eject people.

Rory, registered owner is Palm Beach County. As far as I can tell, this goof just works there. Point is surfers don't pay, fishermen represent revenue.

It's your pier not his. You own it, he just works there. If the county gets enough complaints threatening attendance because of this guy, he'll be gone pretty quick.

Never mess with the money.

Maybe, the management is just afraid of being sued by surfer if injured by fishing hooks...
