To catch mack, trolley may be easy specially when they are far and sporadic ...Even dead ballyhoo seemed to work at windy sea... I set up it up south side as north was all blues...

Fun part was you ready with your spoon or plug...as soon as one of those trolleys caught a fish, it means a school just came nearby and cast here and there and one caught a fish and then everyone jumped into that side and shoulder to shoulder...lol

One kid at tee told me he lost one king at his trolley and later he caught 15lb bonito...My trolley had blue runner and smoked with unbelievable run... I think it was either big bonito or king... Maybe shark...Something too fast to be shark...Also no shark around yesterday...

I knew it was a bad day to fish but had to feed the hunger. Bad rain wind too strong. A few bluefish I saw caught I got a big margate and a sheep on sandfleas and some bluefish donated. Can't we get a decent weekend

Looks like you are putting enough time. It should continue to pay off. Those are some fresh fish. When are you going to have time to eat them?

Do you prefer the Longshank hook put on a lite piece of monofilament or the regular hook on heavier line

regular small J hook or circle with 10-15Lb flo carbon... sheepies are so cautious... And if J hook, you set the hook while watching your bait got eaten.
you will need a little light-action rod so sheepie don't spit it out.

You may need to catch special baits used by local... small creature (not sand flea not fiddler)... Magic is small fish don't eat it but sheepies eat it.
Now, if you want to know where you can catch these, it will cost... what it also means, without these small creature, you only watch locals catching them...well you may catch one or two by accident...lol

I guess when you get pounded day by day you can afford to be picky. I don't know about any sheephead that can pass up a nice sandflea. Are you sure you guys are presenting them correctly?

I use 1/0 J hooks with live shrimp.. I used to catch sheeps at haulover with this setup.. i think the key is knowing which bite is coming from sheepshead and when to set the hook... just my 2 cents..

At pilings, the challenge is how to deal with small fishes...You will see a school sheepies but there are million other small fishes that eat your bait...
Sheepies doesn't like to compete with small fishes... so you need something only sheepies eat...
Shrimp and sand flea are working but not as good as this small creature...lol

Just my 2 cents...every sheepie I've ever caught has been on live sand fleas at haulover. Like stated above, the hardest part of knowing which is a sheepshead bite vs parrotfish or chubs is a mystery when you're not sight fishing. But they love fleas...are you kidding me?!?!?!?! Lol

I am not sure which little creature you talking about? Maybe an artificial different areas fish do tend to have diff fav bait.... but if you are ever at Haulover... just use shrimps or sandfleas.. plus you never have to dig them youself,.. make friends with few locals theres always unlimited supply lol

I guess haulover where's the best spot since that's where I would go toO. Go up on the bridge at night and drop down by those fenders you going to need a good 4 ounce or so in the big boys are out there
