Since you do not have a kayak it is recommend fishing of the bridge for sharks. You can catch Cudas in the Keys using Cuda tube lures. Make sure to get the cable version not the single strand wire....

I have a friend coming down to Siesta Key in mid-march and wants to go shark fishing. I was wondering if anyone would be able to take him. He has never caught a shark before and is a freshwater angler.

Turtle Beach on Siesta gives up some sharks. It's a public beach near the south end of the island, just north of the Point of Rocks. Check out the bathymetry, drops off nicely there.

Which is better, braid or mono. alot of people think braid is stronger and better than mono. but one thing for sure, because braid has no stretch, it might be more likely to break. if you compare mono...

I also think it depends on your gear....if you are using spinning gear than i would load with
braid and a topshot of mono.

But if you are going after monsters and using big gear...than go with what...

anyone have a clue to what shark might be on this mans line? my answer is probably a hammer, but yet it could be a tiger.

I wondered if to much drag was applied. anyone see the man near end when he tried to let out line with his hand. why would he do that. I wouldn't touch it at all.

Sucks that it was dead and coudn't be released. Not sure if I think it is over a ton though maybe some of the sharking experts will chime in with their thoughts on that claim.

hey FF thats a monster u right sucks that is dead the tigershark is the only one with there jaws that can cut a sea turtle in half with a single bite .i am sure you know that that a beast.

dam well back in the day i was 60 pounds off the black tip record caught off the flager pier and i been put in the flager news paper for that and fighting a tarpon 4 over 3 hours it was 200+ pounds

I know many of you shark fish in the keys and i do as well, but don't want to further destroy my rods or friends rods, what type of tubing do you put on them to keep from damaging blank or epoxy,...

Funny you ask, I just did that myself a few days ago. I got some heavy 1 clear plastic tubing and zip ties from Home Depot. I've seen people use garden hose too.

Thats what i do.
